What I don't understand is the fact that yeah Shawn you agree that the 230whp on the type R stock is crazy. But how can JR justify the 215whp reading. Or better yet the 209whp reading. I'm really glad that you understand our position. I'm also glad that your willing to help even though everyone else at JR wont. Have Oscar even taking into consideration whats going on with us type R owners? I mean yeah its great if he changes the plots to the correct ones, but what about all the people that fall victim to believing that whp number. In fact, I just ran into another JRSC type R today. I told him the truth about the numbers and he thought I was crazy. He said he read in Velocity and on the JR site that the kit will make 215-230whp stock. I laughed and handed him a binder I keep of the threads here, and of all the JR stories and dyno plots I've seen. I swear his face turned white! He is sooo mad right now. It's not fair. Why wont Oscar dip into his huge money bank and give the type R owners a free BTC or whatever will fix the flaw with the kit or give us a cash credit for the fix. I would be grealty pleased at somthing that small. At least it shows Oscar cares. OR at least have him write a letter then post it on to this board explaining his actions and what he plans to do to fix this.

I'm with you 100%, Mike. I would like for Oscar Jackson to open a public dialogue with his customers (jrsc R's in particular) and discuss the shortcomings of the jrsc kit, and more importantly, what is being done to fix the problems.

Heh guys, I think the thing you should look at though is the fact that the baseline dyno for that GSR graph is already very high. It only gained about 62 hp at the wheel which is about the 40 percent increase in hp that JR even advertises. The thing is, that a lot of GSR's dyno well below 160 hp with an i/h/e, so they don't actually achieve the great numbers that are on that graph. I've stated before, that my car hit mid 220's on the dyno after the install 2 years and 3 months ago, but then again, my car baselined at 164 hp. I gained about 62 hp to the wheels, which I'm sure most peeps are actually gaining on GSR kits> Its just that they maybe their engines were not at optimum levels and were only hitting 140-150 whp before the charger. I haven't seen too many complaints with the GSR kits, and I'm completely satisfied with mine. The typer guys, I feel for you and all the trouble you guys have had to get your cars to run the advertised numbers, but I still feel that the GSR kit is the best of them, and runs pretty much as advertised(besides the maintenance free idea).

Mike,
You have to remember Oscar is not involved. His car is a test vehicle for JRSC products but Moss calls the shots. Obviously Oscar may have some input but he doesn't decide what is included and what isn't.

I would love to be getting even close to the numbers i'm seeing here. Pre JRSC was 162.5hp ....best with the JRSC is 165hp.
I have a very serious question Shawn....are you guys still selling the Type R JRSC kits? I really think it would be wise to stop selling them untill a real fix can be had. I agree that all the other JRSC kits are great...but the ITR kit just is not working like it should be. I've seen the kit on a 96 GSR 4 door and that thing was incredible...thats why i got mine....but I've never gained any real HP...I"ve had a less than 2% increase in power.
I bet i could gain more than that with this: http://www.electricsupercharger.com

The JRSC for Type R's gets rapped (rightly so!) for lack of power.
The JRSC for D series motors gets rapped for detonation problems.
I don't think I would recommend a JRSC for anyone but GSR and Civic Si owners.

Exactly!! That is what people have been saying for the past 6 months now. You only have to take a look on any import used/new parts board to see how many kits are being put up for sale.
RougeSol: NO WITCH hunt here. These are just facts that can not be ignored. Yes, GSR/SI owners are having less problems than anyone else. But, you can no ignore the difficulties that many D-series, ITR and some LS owners are having.

Boys and Girls...
Here is the real problem.
The GSR and the Si kits are pretty simple bolt on matters... and the LS and Civic kits aren't far behind. The Type "R" kit however, is a real bear to tune properly due to the agressive fuel curves in the stock ECU. Now, maybe because JR has a history of making products that the average "home mechanic" can install himself, Type "R" owners have gotten frustrated because they are not capable of really tuning the car... they can bolt the parts on, but then the car is a diamond in the rough. The next problem is then finding someone who can tune a Type "R" properly... and since there are so many half-assed shops out there claiming to be Import Performance specialists, this can be just as discouraging as the original install.
So, now on a positive note: what really needs to be happening now is passing on good, reliable information. While all of you guys are bitching about the problem, you are missing the solution.
Mike Marsey (RBoosted717) is making the power that we all expect... and if you would pick his brain instead of belly-aching about how little power you have, then maybe you will be happy with your car soon.
Just a thought.

Hasn't Mike M. increased boost over stock?
I thought he changed some pulleys. I'm not sure though.
